EEOC Training Institute: EEO & HR for Managers and Supervisors - Everyday Accountability (with OPM)

This course provides supervisors with the context, background and competencies to execute everyday supervisory responsibilities in accordance with legal and regulatory frameworks that impact them. The content integrates selected HR and EEO topics with a focus on those that may cause problems for managers and supervisors. It also introduces good practices that help ensure a fair workplace for all. This two and a half day course is the first joint offering of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and will be delivered by a team of EEOC and OPM trainers.

Highlights Include:

  • Review of legislative context and responsibilities of regulatory agencies (EEOC, MSPB, OSC, OPM);
  • Hiring process, with emphasis on Veterans’ preference and special hiring authorities;
  • Reasonable accommodations;
  • Employee development; feedback and coaching; tele-work; and flexible work schedules;
  • Preventing harassment;
  • Performance appraisals and ratings (does not include writing performance standards);
  • Discipline;
  • The EEO complaint process, and the role of supervisors and managers in it; and
  • Preventing retaliation.

Participants are encouraged to arrive at 8:00 a.m.
