Wounded Warror Careers: Post-Placement Support

Date: Tuesday, October 29, 2013
Description: 3:00 PM EST - National Organization on Disability & The Conference Board Webcast

Post-placement support is an essential and often overlooked component of a successful employment strategy for veterans with disabilities. While corporate America has taken strides to hire veterans, many of these employment initiatives have not focused on providing support once the veteran is on the job to make the work experience successful. This webcast will explore programs that provide smart, effective, post-placement on-the-job supports to veterans with serious disabilities during career transition.

With facilitation by Bill Lockwood, Program Director, Wounded Warrior Careers, National Organization on Disability, with perspectives from
Karen Stang, Recruiting & Placement Manager, Operation IMPACT (Injured Military Pursuing Assisted Career Transition) Program, Northrop Grumman Corporation,
Lenke Kneschke, Program Development Manager, ServiceSource, and Michael Costanzo, Warrior Bridge Coordinator, ServiceSource, the panel will share what made their program successful.

Participants will:

  • Identify what post-placement supports are, the needs of veterans with serious disabilities, and how post-placement supports may be delivered
  • Learn about an employer's experience with post-placement supports for veterans with disabilities
  • Learn about a service provider's experience with post-placement supports and how service providers and employers can work together to support veterans with disabilities in the workplace
  • Learn about resources for providing post-placement supports
