The federal agencies behind the PERSPECTIVES on the Employment of Persons with Disabilities Conferences have teamed up with eFedLink to provide a FREE webinar,  "You've Just Been Appointed a Federal Disability Program Manager - Now What?" The webinar will be held on February 26, 2014 from 2:00 - 3:30 PM.

Executive Order 13548, calls upon agencies to hire 100,000 individuals with disabilities.  Furthermore, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 requires federal agencies to be model employers of individuals with disabilities.

 Despite the challenges of meeting these requirements, it is common for agencies to appoint Disability Program Managers (DPMs) with little or no experience in the field, fail to provide appropriate training for their DPM, and offer little guidance or support.  Such an environment leaves many DPMs feeling overwhelmed.

Don't worry... you don't have to go it alone.

This popular workshop will discuss all the tools a new DPM needs to be successful and will help participants build a strong foundation for their program.  Effective techniques, strategies, and programs will be discussed - including the Schedule A appointing authority, targeted recruitment, free resources, and much more. If you feel you are in it alone and have little direction in your
role as a DPM, this session is for you!

 

Presenters, Stephen M. King, Director of Disability Programs for the Department of Defense, and Michael Looney, National People with Disabilities Program Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration, have over 20 years of combined experience in the federal disability field and have provided similar training to thousands of employees in federal and local government.

Registration is open to individuals with a .gov or .mil email address.
