Back by popular demand, you are invited to attend the Department of Transportation (DOT) workshops entitled, “Resume Writing,” Interview Techniques,” and “How to Find and Apply for a Federal Job” on Thursday, March 20 from 10:00 am. to 3:30 pm. Please note that all three workshops are being held on the same day. These workshops are open to all interested agencies. The schedule is as follows:
The Federal Government is streamlining the application process in order to make it easier and faster for candidates to apply for jobs. Job seekers will be able to apply for positions using a resume and an optional cover letter. This workshop will provide participants with information on how best to write a resume that highlights strengths and accomplishments. You will learn what information to include on your resume, tips to market yourself and how to describe your experiences. You will also learn how to communicate veteran-specific information on your resume. Participants will leave this session armed with information to craft an effective resume.
Ms. Desha Mingo is a veteran of the armed forces and a Senior Human Resources Specialist with the Recruitment Policy and Outreach Office at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). In this role, she promotes and coordinates OPM’s outreach efforts to the public, providing informational sessions related to the overall Federal hiring process. Ms. Mingo has over 25 years of Federal civil service, working for such agencies as the Department of Veterans Affairs, Government Printing Office and Naval Air Systems Command, and has a diverse professional background. She has years of experience in the Human Resources arena which includes Staffing and Placement, Position Classification, Employee Relations, Performance Management, and Workforce Development. Ms. Mingo has dedicated her career to serving the American public with her time in the military and civilian Federal government.
