Description: Build the Pipeline: Outreach and Recruitment via an Employee Resource Group
The Build the Pipeline recommendation from the Federal Framework* describes effective practices to attract and recruit qualified individuals with disabilities. Engaging ERG’s in recruitment processes is one such practice.
The US Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque District, will share their ERG development process and answer audience questions. The New Mexico Business Leadership Network (NMBLN) received funding in 2011 to support the efforts of federal agencies in New Mexico to hire and retain more employees with disabilities. These ERGs were formed with the goal of engaging their members in outreach and recruitment activities, as well as sharing resources and information throughout the federal sector.
Joseph (Paul) Rebarchik, SPA, Engineering Technician, and Karen Doran, EEO Manager, will discuss their agency’s philosophy, process, and experiences regarding forming and developing effective ERGs, as profiled on eFedLink . The session will include Q & A time
Registration is open to individuals with federal government issued email address.
*In the 2012 report, Federal Agency Employment Strategies: A Framework for Disability Inclusion, the Office of Disability Employment Policy, U.S. Department of Labor outlines federal best practices for recruiting, hiring, and advancing people with disabilities.
