Disability Resource Center (DRC) Employment Workshop, “Resume Writing and Interview Techniques for Job Candidates”

Where:  Conference Room 3, U.S. Department of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SW, Washington, DC

The Federal Government continues to enhance the application process in order to make it easier and faster for candidates to apply for jobs.  At this DRC Employment Workshops, job seekers will be able to apply for positions using a resume and an optional cover letter.  The sessions will provide participants with information on how best to write a resume that highlights strengths and accomplishments.  Participants will learn what information to include on their resumes, tips to market themselves and how to describe their experiences.  Participants will also learn what the Federal interview entails and how best to prepare for it, along with interviewing tips and information on how to navigate the Federal application process, including improvements made to the USAJOBS.gov website. 

Facilitated by DeShan King, a veteran of the armed forces and a Senior Human Resources Specialist with the Recruitment Policy and Outreach Office at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), these workshops are open to all interested agencies, so please help spread the word.  

The schedule is as follows: 

  • 10:00-11:00: Resume Writing and Interview Techniques
  • 11:00-12:00: Networking
  • 12:00-1:00:   How to Find and Apply for a Federal Job
